Network Engineer


Tech Authority is hiring!

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and intermittently improving our current network configuration and infrastructure. You will design our revamped network infrastructure with the goal of maximizing our network performance. You will also provide troubleshooting and configuration support by using your strong technical skills in Linux, Mac, Windows environments and IP networking.

Required Skills

Familiarity with most basic system administration tools and processes; for example: add and remove user accounts, use backup programs and other administrator utilities.
Familiar with an operating system or systems and their commands/utilities at a user level; can edit files, issue commands, find users directories, navigate through the file system.
Able to identify the hardware and software needed to provide solutions to problems.
Provide telephone, face to face and online service.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of writing proposals and scopes of work effectively and timely and with minimal supervision, making presentations to clients with sales force, ability to do site survey’s efficiently and timely.
Able to work with minimal supervision; independent problem-solving, self-direction.
Comfortable with most aspects of operating systems including commands / utilities, systems administration and additional server-based products.
Comfortable with installing server-based products and performing troubleshooting with limited supervision.
Has a strong understanding of the proper setup of server based systems and infrastructure.
Familiar with basic networking/distributed computing environment concepts.
Ability to do basic troubleshooting skills for either intranet or internet related issues.
A strong understanding of DNS, WINS, SMTP, etc.
Strong time management skills.
Clean Driving record and have dependable transportation

Required Background

Five years of system administration experience
Certifications from either Microsoft, CompTIA or Cisco products

Appropriate Responsibilities

Receives general instructions for new responsibilities from supervisor.
Administers a complex site alone or assists in the administration of a larger site.
Initiates some new responsibilities and helps to plan for future of the site/network.
Manages Novice/Entry level Network or System Engineers.
Evaluates and or recommends purchases; has strong influence on purchasing process.


A degree in computer science or comparable experience.
Multiple certifications (A+, Microsoft and other current certifications)
5 years of experience with network administration in a Linux, Mac or Windows environment.
Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals.
